Robert DudleyBP’s finally officially announced that Robert Dudley will replace the office of Tony Hayward as chief executive officer of the company from 1 October.

Robert Dudley will be the first CEO who was not a British citizen in the middle of the tangled problem of oil spills.

The decision to replace Hayward, BP said, Tuesday, July 27, 2010, achieved through mutual consent.

As a form of confidence in Hayward, BP’s plan to recommend it to occupy a non-executive board positions at BP’s joint venture in Russia, and will provide funds amounting to £ 1.045 million salary for one year.

“The board of BP is very sad to lose CEO for three years developing the company and deserve to be admired,” said BP chairman, Carl-Henric Svanberg.

Hayward, holder of a Ph.D. in geology, is considered to have good performance as a chief executive.

However, he promised when elected in 2007 to focus “like a laser” on the safety of workers to a boomerang for himself following a refinery explosion in Deepwater Horizon.

The blast killed eleven workers and catastrophic oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico.

Decision to choose Robert Dudley to replace the Hayward announced simultaneously with the announcement of BP’s quarterly losses.
