I have been a happy AVG user for a number of years. On upgrading to version 8.0, I ran a scan, and it found a virus in an email attachment (I am using the Thunderbird email client). I then noticed that it had deleted the entire email folder that contains the offending message. And I mean completely deleted, ie it wasn’t in the virus vault. Needless to say, I went into the configuration and updated the settings to not “heal” anything automatically, but the damage was already done. The worst part is I suspect the offending message had been deleted earlier and I just hadn’t compressed the email folder.
